What is WaldoFar? It is an Amatuer Radio Repeater System located south of Chicago.
We have coverage into parts of 9 counties in the NE Illinois and NW Indiana area.
The primary purpose is to provide communications in the event of severe weather for Skywarn weather spotters to relay their reports from the field, public events, and if necessary emergency communications in the event of any type of emergency. We are also a Backup system for the National Weather Service in Chicago for supporting their SKYWARN operations.
We protect where we live!
The system is built and maintained completely through the donations and volunteering of local Ham Radio operators. A great deal of thanks go out to all of those who have contributed over the years and continue to improve the system.
